Trudo is a housing company that owns most of the social houses and buildings in the StrijpS area of Eindhoven, which was formerly the Philips factory area. Haasje Over is one of the towers built by Trudo used for social housing, and its tenant selection system meets well-defined and specific requirements.
These residents have a specific profile, mainly consisting of artists, creatives, and designers who work in the district. The project aims to understand how the area has been formed and developed over time, questioning how the image and aesthetic of StrijpS's buildings are intrinsic to the control exercised by Trudo. If the absurdity of the selection system is taken to its maximum, how will the buildings and appearance of StrijpS change?

Masterplan: Flipping StrijpS consists of a futuristic and dystopian proposal for Trudo, scheduled for implementation after 2030, following the fourth phase of StrijpS. The new phase involves an exaggerated and highly controlled selection system for new tenants.
In this new urban masterplan, the goal is to replace the vertical skyline of StrijpS with a horizontal labyrinth of buildings. In this vision, residents of social housing units are required to dedicate their lives to maintaining the beauty of the area while being constantly supervised and observed by Trudo.

Through research, which involved analysing a specific case study, conducting interviews, and mapping out systems, it has been possible to reconstruct and illustrate how Trudo operates in the area. The tenant selection system has been identified as the main variable affecting and altering StrijpS' appearance.
This understanding was gained through interviews with four current tenants, the architect of Haajse Over from VMX Architects, and two employees of Trudo. The research has been valuable for comprehending Trudo's operations within the StrijpS area and for reflecting on the gentrification of the place.
