Wildfires are fascinating and dangerous phenomena capable of generating a duality of perspectives regarding their impact on the environment. To understand wildfires differently and unravel their recurring patterns, individuals can explore these situations by drawing parallels to life forms.

Burning Membrane is a performance that delves into the contrasting viewpoints of soil and skin during the burning process and subsequently to the healing phase. Through the use of anthropomorphization, the performance aims to elucidate the complexity of wildfires by projecting human emotions onto them. By doing so, it provides a means to comprehend and internalise this natural event, which is often perceived distant and difficult to perceive

Anthropomorphization, in this context, serves as a powerful tool to foster empathy and, consequently, to understand how various life forms are affected by wildfires. However, it is essential to acknowledge and consider how this method is capable of creating an unbalanced relationship and hierarchy between the human and non-human sphere.
